Archwood Book Study: There will be NO book discussion on Sunday, October 13.

We will continue our exploration of White Rage: the Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide by Carol Anderson when we gather after worship on Sunday, Oct 20, and discuss Chapter 3. Everyone is invited to participate. If you would like a book (provided without charge) or have any questions, please contact Terri Hisel at evasgirl1@gmail.com

Events at Julia de Burgos

There will be all sorts of classes, discussions, and workshops happening at Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center over the next few months. See the flyers below for details, and join the fun!

Next produce sale: October 13

Archwood UCC sells produce to the public at discount prices on the second and fourth weekends of each month from 11am to 2pm. We have been selling Saturdays, but we are switching to Sundays. Come and help, or just come and buy, in the Fellowship Hall in the church basement – or, in nice weather, on the front sidewalk. Without a supermarket or farmer’s market in our neighborhood, we’re doing our bit to offer fresh fruits and vegetables that can otherwise be hard to find. Interested? Questions? Contact Dale Lindsey, 810-333-0816, 2dalesden@gmail.com.

Happening in the community:

End Homelessness: Support the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless

The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH) hosts the 2nd annual, NEOCH-TOBERFEST on October 19, 2019 at 7:00pm at St. Edward High School in Lakewood. There will be community building, food stations, raffles, entertainment and good beer. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Coalition and its mission. Last year Archwood members and friends attended this fun event to end homelessness. This year, Archwood UCC is officially supporting NEOCH as a sponsor! Westside Theological Forum

Each year a group of UCC churches on the west side of Cleveland sponsor the Westside Theological Forum. This year the speaker is Dr. Timothy Beal, Professor of Religion at Case Western Reserve University, who will speak about the book of Revelation. The title of his presentation is “I Wish We’d All Been Ready: Revelation, the Rapture, and Other Strategies for Scaring the Hell Out of Us.”  The Forum is Sat., Oct. 26, 10:30am, at Avon Lake UCC, 32801 Electric Blvd, Avon Lake. The event is free; an offering will be gathered.
