Happening at Archwood:

Holy Week at AUCC

Please join us this week for Holy Week services led by the Rev. George Graham. On Maundy Thursday, we will share a potluck meal beginning at 6 p.m. followed by a service of Holy Communion and Tenebrae at 7 p.m. During this service, we will remember the final days of Jesus' life, as the room is gradually darkened.

We will celebrate Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m. on Sunday. We hope to see you!

Book Discussion

There will be no discussion of The Last Week after worship on Easter Sunday, April 21. Our conversations will continue on Sunday, April 28, when we discuss chapter 7. Everyone is invited to participate.

Masonry Repairs

AUCC has made some long deferred masonry repairs that make our faith home stronger and better for our missions.  Can you help with the cost? Any monetary donation would be greatly appreciated, and should be sent to Archwood UCC, 2800 Archwood Avenue, Cleveland 44109. You may designate the contribution "Front steps repair". Thank you for your help!

Next produce sale: April 28

Archwood UCC sells produce to the public at discount prices on the second and fourth weekends of each month from 11am to 2pm. We have been selling Saturdays, but we are switching to Sundays. Come and help, or just come and buy, in the Fellowship Hall in the church basement – or, in nice weather, on the front sidewalk. Without a supermarket or farmer’s market in our neighborhood, we’re doing our bit to offer fresh fruits and vegetables that can otherwise be hard to find. Interested? Questions? Contact Dale Lindsey, 810-333-0816, 2dalesden@gmail.com.

Archwood's Book Group

Our Lenten book is The Last Week: What the Gospels Really Teach About Jesus's Final Days in Jerusalem by Marcus Borg and Dominic Crossen. We'll meet after worship next Sunday, April 28.  Please join us! Archwood's mission is to provide paperback books free-of-charge.  You are welcome to join anytime, even if you simply wish to participate in the discussions.  Contact Terri Hisel at evasgirl1@gmail.com to order a book or if you have questions about the group.

Young Voices Devotional

Young Voices: Stepping Out of the Wilderness is a 47-day devotion written by youth and young adults to guide you through Lent. Day 20’s devotion was written by Grace Schumann, one of our members! Proceeds will be used for programs and outreach for youth and young adults in the UCC. Buy and download your copy at https://www.uccresources.com/products/young-voices-stepping-out-of-the-wilderness.

Happening in the community:

Take a stand, Make a difference, Change a life, Get Involved Today!

CASA of Cuyahoga County, a program of Child and Family Advocates of Cuyahoga County, is searching for volunteers to advocate for kids who have been neglected and abused. CASAs are everyday citizens who are trained and appointed by the court to advocate for the safety and well-being of children. CASAs collect information that helps the court make the best decision for a safe, caring, and permanent home for children involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. The CASA is responsible for investigation, facilitation, advocacy, and monitoring of the assigned child’s case and to represent the child’s best interests.

Those interested in becoming a CASA, visit www.cfadvocates.org to apply or call 216.443.3377 for more information.

We're selling fruits and vegetables to the public at discount prices on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Find us from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the front sidewalk, or in the Fellowship Hall in the church basement if it rains. Without a supermarket or farmer's market in our part of the West Side, we're doing our bit to offer healthy food that can otherwise be hard to find. All are welcome. Interested in helping out or just knowing more? Call or text organizer Dale Lindsey, 810-333-0816.
